I like reading comments by bloggers. Here’s one with high expectation!

**********

‘Yes… I hope kids as they grow to be teens and young adults continue to have tenacity and grit. So far they have been named strawberry generation, which is not good… sigh! ‘

Some of our children exceed our expectation. Some do not.

Do we ourselves exceed our parents’ expectation?

VINCENT EHINDERO BLOGGER AWARD

Thank you JOYCEMARYJ for nominating me for this award.

Do visit her site ” A Life’s Journey Little things matter” for beautiful poems and stories.

************

Rules:-

• Thank the person who nominated you with the link to their blog.

• Make a post of the award (with photo).

• Post the rules.

• Ask 5-10 questions of your choice.

• Nominate 10-30 other bloggers (or more) and notify them.

• Follow Vincent Ehindero to qualify for a free blog promotion, shoutout and more blogging opportunities.

****************************

My answer to her questions:

What gives you the inspiration to write or take pictures? What’s your muse? Past experiences, recent issues in news, other posts and comments.

After writing your content, do you edit or erase certain words or sentences to make sure that you don’t offend your readers? A second thought? Yes! If it makes reading better!

How do you exactly feel after pressing the publish button on your blog? – Ah, task completed!

Do you anticipate that your blog will be a hit? Does it make you anxious? The ones I least expect good responses to became a hit instead!

How do you explain your life before and after you started your blog? I have always wanted to write but couldn’t find the time. Covid-19 has enabled it to happen. I may slow down once other activities return. That is, if Covid-19 ever clear! Besides being a home-maker, I do part-time work at hospitals. I would love to take my son for his bowling practices again!

***********

There are so many good bloggers. I am still learning. So here, I nominate:-

*************************************

My Questions for these new nominees:

  1. What is your greatest motivation to blog?
  2. What takes up most of your time in blogging?
  3. How do you balance your time with family life?
  4. What is your advice for many junior bloggers out there?
  5. There are so many awards. How can the award system be improved or be more creative?

Today’s children are well-cushioned;
helmets, elbow and knee pads.
So they don’t experience injury and pain.

COVID-19: No one should die alone

******

I read a post
"No one should die alone" referring to dying alone
in a nursing home.

My mind goes to
the many COVID-19 patients
in Intensive Care Units
who had to die alone
without their loved ones
around them.

"Nurse, I am scared to die!"
" Uncle, I will chant a prayer together with you."

Another Buddhist nurse said:
"According to a Buddhist monk,
it is better to inform the dying to remember the good deeds
they have done so that
they may reborn
in a better realm."

A Muslim healthcare worker
would hold
the dying patient's hand
and say a prayer
during their last breaths.

A Hindu nurse said,
"We can chant
Om Shivaya Namaha
or Om Namo Shivaya."

A Christian nurse said,
"I would do this:
With both my praying hands held over her/ his praying hands and recite Psalm 23: V 1 - 6"

********

When everything else seems futile, spirituality offers great solace and comfort.

Even a Hindu doctor had recited Islamic prayer for a patient on death bed!

Son, you have two machine guns…

Son, you have two machine guns…

After reading the daily news, Mary looked serious. She called her son to sit down with her.

“Son, you have two machine guns. The first is your car 1.8CC. When you drive to college. Be careful and don’t speed!”

Mary showed him the front page of the daily news. “See? This young man plowed his car into a group of seven people at a bus stop! A car can be like a machine gun if not used carefully!”

Her son nodded. He just came back from college looking tired.

“The next machine gun I have always wanted to talk to you about is this. Don’t you go around shooting wild oats to any girl in college except the one who will bring me, my grandchildren!”

A quiet person, he nodded again and went into his room.

“Sis, such a crude way to tell about the birds and the bees to your son!” Mary’s sister remarked.

“Sigh! I wish my husband would do this job instead of me!” Mary went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

So, have you spoken to your kids about the birds and the bees?”

I think the ‘Youtube university’ may have already done it!

A pug on my mug

Is this pup a pug?
as I looked at the picture
printed on my mug.

This Haiku is inspired by a story of a wrinkly pug ” The Pug.” while I was drinking my mug of coffee.

2. A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself- Josh Billings
