International Nurses Day 2021: Nursing the world to health

International Nurses Day 2021: Nursing the world to health is the theme this year.

12th May is the anniversary of the birth of the founding nurse, Florence Nightingale. It acknowledges the commitment and bravery of nurses around the world in the light of COVID-19.

According to an international nursing chief, the Covid nurse death toll is now as high as the number of nurses who died during World War One.

Nurses form the largest healthcare workforce. Only now, going to hospital every day is like going to the war field. Caring for others while worrying about those at home. Working through the shifts, as the ratio of staff-patient stretches thin.

To this vital backbone of the healthcare system, many thanks, nurses!

Tourism: of decors and assurance

Tourism: of decors and assurance

This poem is about tourism, the street decorations that still linger post festivities, and the assuring sight of police presence!

  2. “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” ― Gustave Flaubert

Shadow: A silent companion, always

A silent companion, always (a poem)

This short poem is about shadow as a silent and non-complaining companion. And it is always faithful and sticking around wherever Teh C. H. (guest photographer) goes! The face mask in the shadow marks the lingering pandemic in the background! Teh cycles in marathon, triathlon and half iron-man.

Quote:

When one sees light, a shadow will follow behind! – TPTan

As surely as a shadow in broad day light, as certainly as success with determined might! – TPTan

(Google translation to Chinese for Noble Silence at a Meditation retreat)

Sympathy, Empathy and Compassion

Sympathy, Empathy and Compassion

This slide show is about sympathy, empathy and compassion. The initial period of adjustment to anti-psychotic medication affects the whole family. Some societal members are supportive of people with mental disorders.

The author agrees with Helen Keller, 1880 – 1968, that the best and most beautiful things in life cannot be seen, or even touched, but are felt in the heart.

(Google translated from English to Malay)

“Atuk, kenapa kamu tidak memakai coli?”
“Kerana saya lelaki. Lelaki tidak memakai coli.”
“Kenapa lelaki tak payah pakai coli?”
“Kerana masyarakat menentukan demikian.”
