I took these pictures a few years back in Kuching when there was a forest fire in Kalimantan. Even these news pale as compared to today’s daily reports on Covid-19!
People are busy fighting this pandemic war, there is no time and energy for deforestation and unethical developments.
A hazy day after the forest fire…
On one clear morning…

“My daughter-in-law would never use a cane. She uses the silent treatment: Stand at the corner.”
“My mother is the disciplinarian at home. Daddy is too busy… But we love her for what she is!”
“We used to hide the feather duster…”
“… If you cane me, I will report to the police!” coming from a pouting eight years old, next door kid! He heard another neighbour warning his mother, after taking away a wooden plank from his mother’s hand the last time.
“Mum, you used to cane me. That is why I am disciplined and successful in life!”
“My boys used to fight. It would be a five cane on each hand for both of them. Funnily, my daughter never need to be caned at all!”

“… no need to cut because this is a personal sized pizza. Any growing-up teenager can finish that one whole piece! ” – this would probably be my son’s response!
A monkey posed for my mobile camera patiently. The monkey pose reminds me of another ‘monkey pose’ in yoga, Hanumanasana. This is one pose not everyone can do. Certainly, not me!
Today everybody was talking about the Saturn opposition. My sister sent me this picture of the sun above her house!
So I went out. Clouds appeared instead, and formed a picture of a girl face! see below!

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
This is a nice shot. This is like telling “wait, mummy gets you the sun (or the moon!)” Anything a mother can’t get you?
Here is a haiku to go with this picture!
The sun is setting Let mummy gets you the sun before it is gone!

Nature’s recipe: If one is lost and hungry in a jungle, …
I saw a post about sashimi. I am not used to eating raw meat or fish. But this nature’s recipe is crawlingly raw! It is palm sago worms which is also known as Butod locally.
To the locals, Sago Grub or Sago Worm is a delicacy eaten raw or fried. These creamy, yellow, and fat worms are rich in protein. They are sold at US$0.25 each (RM40 – 45 per Kg)! They are still a hot selling item in local market.
I saw this picture (below) in my former student’s social media site. I asked for her experience before writing this post.
wanna try some, palm sago worms?
That brings me to a question. If one is lost and hungry in a jungle, would one try this nature’s delicious delight?
