Success doesn’t necessarily depends on ‘paper’.

  1. I was once involved in the selection of a senior manager who was street smart, savvy, action oriented, and a problem solver. He was only a high school graduate but beat out an intelligent, popular, and well educated applicant (PhD from Notre Dame) because the one with the “piece of paper” tended to over-analyze issues and was reluctant to take risk and make decisions.

Those who are upper middle class can afford to go to elite schools and study humanity science majors to be leaders. They are not necessarily smart, but rather they speak the language of the top hierarchy. They have their money and legacy to be thankful for their good fortune and their position. And they become the well accepted leader of everybody else. It is only the structure of the society that put them there. It says nothing about their intelligence or competence.
