Too old to drive?

Too old to drive?

As aging takes its degenerative toll on eyesight, hearing, reflexes and mental faculty, driving becomes a concern.

A senior citizen drove

on a motorcycle lane.

Some drove

against the traffic!

****

Concerns sparked.

*****

Suppose one eyesight

is getting poorer,

especially on nights,

or against the glares?

****

Suppose one’s hearing

gets worse and can’t hear

vehicles horning behind?

*****

Suppose one’s reflexes

become slower

with aging and stiff joints?

******

Independence and mobility

are vital for the

well-being of older people.

*****

Should their driving licenses

be screened medically?

Should public transports

be easily and freely

available to them?

…without them trying

to cross the heavy traffic,

or to the bus stops?

****

Are the millions of

baby boomers

still driving?

I definitely agree that seniors need to have their driving privileges reconsidered where it makes sense – for their safety and for others too.

I got my license late in life, in my early thirties. It was for the best! šŸ˜†
