Grieving and moving on

Grieving and moving on

One grieves the loss of

amputated breast(s), anus,

there’s no turning back

****

One grieves the loss of

a dear deceased, loved one

both have to move on

****

One grieves for a child

once normal, now disabled

it’s a new path now

****

Letting go is hard

yet letting go is caring

to venture new paths

****

Letting go, is love

to care, to free, one lets go,

let go of control

In my hometown called Port Dickson

In my hometown called Port Dickson

Sunset at Port Dickson beach

************

Here in Malaysia

is a town called Port Dickson.

Some call it ‘Alang‘.

***

Arangmeans charcoal

used to be a carbon mine

later a small port.

***

Driving leisurely

I parked along the road side

occasionally…

***

Marvelling, we watched,

serene sunset, camping tents,

human silhouette.

***

Please drive on, mummy!

Enjoying music background,

watching the night glowed.

As I W.F.H.

in my hometown, Port Dickson,

ala holiday .

Drawings on walls illuminate…

a chariot take -off.

Beneath the umbrella of a leave

Beneath the umbrella of a leave

Why would a beautiful bloom of a lotus hide beneath an umbrella of a leave?

I saw many pictures of lotuses in bloom, posted by Toh HL.

********

This is the cutest.

Why would a beautiful bloom

hide beneath a leave?

*******

Do you need a sunglass

to hide from the bright sunlight?

No, a leave will do!

Embracing ageing in gardening

Embracing ageing in gardening

When
will my watermelon plants bear fruits?

It’s therapeutic

planting in my quietude self

meditative peace

And excitingly

I watch new green plants growing…

wonderful nature!

Tendrils climb netting

spreading upwards the trellis

grow, grow, babies grow!

When will they bear fruits?

red, yellow watermelons

watery delights!

Harvest I did twice

cucumbers, peppers, green leaves

when my kitchen needs

In my dear garden,

my fingers’ greener with age…

embracing ageing!

I have to be alone very often. I’d be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That’s how I refuel.”

Surface pen…a new pen

Surface pen…my new color ‘pencils’

Using a surface pen

When I was young, I was so proud to own my own box of color pencils. I remember using and sharpening them until they were about 1 inch long each.

Half a century later, I am privileged to draw using a surface pen for as many colors as I would like to!

The Sound of Silence: Analysis

… And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made …   The oxymoron  (=combination of words having opposite or very different meanings) in the title gives a good idea of incommunicability among people The poem ‘The Sound of Silence’ consists of five irregular stanzas in which the poet describes  the conflict between […]

Quote:

When I was in high school in the 1930s, I told my father that I wanted to take up smoking. He said, “That’s alright with me. But why would anyone want to put anything but fresh air into his lungs when life is so short as it is?”

… I’ll have a martini and New York strip steak occasionally, but not every day.

Breast cancer incidences now the most common…

Cancer (Photo by Ivan Samkov on Pexels.com)

Breast cancer – the most common cancer worldwide and leading cause of cancer death among women – disproportionately affects individuals in low- and middle-income countries. Breast cancer 5-year survival rates in high-income countries exceeds 90%, compared with 66% in India and 40% in South Africa.

The most common NEW cases were breast cancer (2.26 millions)! It has overtaken lung cancer’s place!

New cases of lung cancer is in the second place (2.21 million cases), followed by colon and rectum (1.93 million cases); prostate; skin (non-melanoma); and stomach (1.09 million cases).

Cervical cancer is not in this top list. It used to be higher than breast cancer decades ago. Have systematic screenings and HPV vaccination played a big role?

*****

Breast cancer incidences is now the most common… displacing lung cancer.

Have increased awareness and early screenings increase the number?

Have these strategies conversely lower the number of breast cancer deaths, as compared to the other cancers?
