Embracing ageing in gardening

will my watermelon plants bear fruits?
It’s therapeutic
planting in my quietude self
meditative peace
And excitingly
I watch new green plants growing…
wonderful nature!
Tendrils climb netting
spreading upwards the trellis
grow, grow, babies grow!
When will they bear fruits?
red, yellow watermelons
watery delights!
Harvest I did twice
cucumbers, peppers, green leaves
when my kitchen needs
In my dear garden,
my fingers’ greener with age…
embracing ageing!

“Aging is not an option, not for anyone. It is how gracefully we handle the process and how lucky we are, as the process handles us.”
– Cindy McDonal
I have to be alone very often. I’d be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That’s how I refuel.”
(Audrey Hepburn: Many-Sided Charmer, LIFE Magazine, December 7, 1953)
I will have to wait till next year to see it’s fruits!

Gardening is a wonderful hobby. I can imagine watermelons are not the easiest to grow so good for you. Must be so worth it when they bear fruit!
Aging is definitely not an option we can opt out of. But we can decide the attitude we choose to face it with!
